Re: Finally have a running Rabbit

Does anybody in the Missoula area have a running diesel? I'd really like a ride in one to see if mine sounds anywhere near what it should, or behaves like it should, and by ride, I mean in the passenger seat. My injectors still haven't come in, but I have been driving it a bit on the dirt roads arou...

Re: Finally have a running Rabbit

Okay, I got my freeze plug put in on Sunday, and spent some time driving on new fuel with the old injectors, just around the back roads of Arlee. As I was pulling in the driveway, I noticed the alternator light flash on the dash, parked the car, opened the hood, noticed the swivel bolt on the altern...

Re: Finally have a running Rabbit

Thanks Mike, I'll be putting the new freeze plug in tomorrow after my wife gets home and I can use her truck to get to Missoula, and I'll be using your advice there, just have to wonder about the other freeze plugs... As for the fuel, I have it drained, what do I do with it? It's not dirty, should I...

Re: Finally have a running Rabbit

Well, it was a short career for this rabbit. Driving into work yesterday morning, I was having a heck of a time doing 55 mph on Highway 93, then boom, and a huge cloud of steam behind me. I turned the key off and pulled over right away, and sat there waiting for someone from work to find me, since t...

Finally have a running Rabbit

Hi all, After more than two years, I finally have my '81 diesel running. I dropped it off at Import Palace the other day to have John time the injection, and picked it up after work today. A few questions, though. He told me right off the bat that the injectors are not healthy. The motor is complete...

Re: Help in Arlee with Diesel Rabbit

Re: Help in Arlee with Diesel Rabbit

Have the Bently, Haynes, and Chilton's, none of them cover an A/C unit in a Rabbit diesel. But I'll keep trying. Thanks for the input, though.

Help in Arlee with Diesel Rabbit

After 2 years of health problems and everything else, I'm down to installing my a/c compressor and alternator. I don't remember how they go, and I need to get this car running in a hurry now. Anyone local to Missoula willing to make a drive up here? I'll make it worth your while, and if you have wha...

Like new '81 Cloth Rabbit seats for sale

Hi, I've got a pair of front seats and a backseat from my '81 Diesel L for sale. The guy I got the car from bought it new, and covered them as soon as he got it home, so they're about as perfect as perfect gets, no fading, no stains, no tears. They're dark blue. I was hoping to use them in my '81 Co...

No problem at all, I'm just gonna use my old a/c pump as an idler, and maybe one day I'll replace it with a modern pump. Thanks for the try, though!!!
