1. Locate and remove fuse box cover
2. locate and remove fuel pump fuse
3. start car, it will fire, then die
4. Your fuel system is no depressurised
4. Profit

We live and we learn!
This procedure is for pussies! (and smart people and professionals)

How about not keeping your giant melon underneath the filter? I changed Matt's in what...3 minutes...no gas in my eye/mouth/ear (while you two watched me).

Mine wasn't a fuel filter. It was a fuel line going to the fuel rail on some domestic pos. Loosen clamp, and the hose shot right off and I got a high pressure stream of fuel in my face. :banghead:

So that advice would have been hugely helpful previously. I realize you didnt know i was doing it, but i would have paid for that advice! lol

Mike - shut it. It was the first time I had done that and I was expecting a little drip or two to come out, not an immediate shooting off of the connector resulting in flammable liquid in my eyes. I literally unclicked it and BAM it shot off into my eyes - i am just glad josh was there or else i would have been stumbling all over.

I'm glad you lived, I'm kind of wishing I had changed mine to experience the gas eye wash. got to love the great learning experience. By the way, Grant if you want to play with some more gas. I'm goping to be removing my tank on my bug you are welcome to partake. I'm just waiting for the snow to quit falling and we'll be tearing into it.
