Excessive Road Noise and Suspension Question

Post by paintballguy424 »

Ok my car turned over 70k I just put on new tires in July. My car has road noise from the drives side front. Drone type noise whenever I reach speeds of over 30 MPH. Haven't noticed this until recently can't tell if it just started or if it is a new sound. But I do know I am need of new brakes and rotors in the front by the way my steering wheel moves when I press the brakes getting off the highway. Could this be the sound? Was thinking a out of balance wheel or wheel bearing?

Now to my suspension question. I have typical squeaks and rattles from the front end around corners since I do have 70k on my car is it about time to do shocks and struts and bushings or refresh kit? Was looking to do R32 bushings, with either Raceland coilover system or dropzone shocks and struts with some sort of springs (Neuspeed Dropzone?). Any experience with these? Read alittle bit on the raceland on vortex seems to be a decent economic option. Ideas on suspension setup. Looking for sub 500 range.

Thanks ahead of time

does the noise happen particularly when you turn? Like it gets louder in a right or left turn? iw would defintly be wheel bearing if it does.

I have similar issues with my mkIV jetta. When I go around corners or even on bumps I get squeaking like mad. Especially if it's hot outside, I haven narrowed it down to the front swaybar bushings. It seems to be a very common problem on our cars. So I am going to replace thoughs and then go from there. You might give it a try too. There is a way to replace the bushings without dropping the subframe. Just google it and you should find a nice DIY for the install.

Doesnt seem to if the wheels are turning just a constant sound.

Alright I'm seeing two different styles of bushings. Which would be for 01 21mm sway bar or 23 mm sway bar or are they the same?

Read this thread off the vortex very carefully. It explains it all at the beginning for what sized bushings you need.
