Re: The 66
When I put the wiring cover on it pinched the hot wire for the outlet to the ground on the stereo and fried the stereo. It was a free one that kind of worked so i don't feel bad.

Re: The 66
FNA.......Mixing and matching fan shroud stuff and using aftermarket stuff= 10 hour nightmare. I was going to go back to the factory fan shroud because they are flow better and install all the thermostat stuff.... the linkage would not clear the 1/2 cylinder tin and there were no cutouts for the linkage arms to come through the tin. I had to clearance and hammer.....no luck. So i was going to try the aftermarket 36hp shroud I have, it also had no accommodations for the thermostat stuff. So again I had to clearance, drill, and hammer, the air flaps got in.....the linkage that connects the two was two long. Then I made a new piece of linkage. More hammer time, more clearance....mocked up the shroud parts....time to modify some of the internal baffles and touch up the paint .

Re: The 66
the thermostat stuff always caused more problems for me than it was worth haha. i just let my cars idle and warm up for i few minutes before i drive them. and if you arent gunna drive the car in the winter its not a very big deal. but kudos for making that shit work with aftermarket tins. i just said F*$K it and never tried putting it back on lol.

Re: The 66
I think that is everyone's approach to dealing with the thermostat on these things. I have not found anything supporting removing the thermostat assembly when it comes to longevity. I've also heard that if you decide to ditch the thermostat at least leave in the air flaps in and put a heavy spring on to hold them open. I guess that they properly direct airflow and dont cause enough CFM drop to have a negative effect. Oh, and I was able to find a NEW German made thermostat(I didn't think they existed anymore)

Re: The 66
I'll still take them off your hands, it doesn't hurt to have extras. Most of the engine stuff showed up. I still need to blueprint the oil pump, balance rods and pistons, finish the heads(intake ports on one head need porting, both need de-shrouding, cc-ing, new guides, and lapping), and check all my clearances. Then it will be time to reassembled.

Starting to get stuff back together. All of the conrod clearances like new. Rotating assembly back together. Rods balanced, pistons balanced, oil pump blueprinted. I'm running the Tri-Mil hotdog(the only one that has internal baffles to direct flow).
