I believe a wise man once said, "I'm back up in your ass with the Resurrection." Bug is back up and rolling. Oil cooler works really well. I thought the thermostat got stuck and was no opening all the way so i applied extra heat to it. It works but having that oil cooler setup and cool weather keeps is running cool :)

Oh ya. Carb rebuild seemed to go good. Made adjustment( still need to check accelerator pump adjustment) starts runs great, silky smooth. Seems to have a dead spot right off idle, I heard the 009s tend to do that. May be adjusting the accelerator pump will fix that. I tried to wire a horn in, it works, the only problem is that it starts going as soon as the ignition is switched to ON, so i had to disconnect it. There's probably a short some where.

I'm having to many issues with the rear end, with the car being as low as it is. Axle nuts coming loose and drum splines wearing out. I've been talkin to folk about it and the word is that keeping a swing axle that low will always have problems. The car will get lifted a little to see if it helps. 1.5" rear and 1" front. :(

Here is the height the bug will be at for this summer. The axle splines are not looking so hot. One of the bearings is already a little rough from the axle angle not giving it lubrication. Next year i hope to throw in a new tranny, axles, and whatever else it needs, then drop it a little lower(not as low as it was, but lower than it is now).

Rear end does not have much life left in it. I dont recommend dropping the way I did it. The excessive toe in with the camber will eat that rear end up. They make drop plates for the rear that keep your toe in check. You'll still eat up bearings due to lack of oil getting to them, but it should last longer. I have put around 8k on it since i've had it. I will probably put it back to stock, skid plate, and dirt tires and have some fun with it ;)

8k on a beetle seems pretty good for such a short time :)
It's not how fast you go. It's how well you go fast.
