77' isnt that old. there is an article on the tex some were about the very first golf. had a sliding door like a minivan. ill see if i cant turn in up.
besides that I personally know of a few 75' rabbits. one even has a build date of 12/74. but they have huge holes in the floors.

It has to be diesel to qualify - you know of older diesel rabbits? If so I will buy it/them. Floor pans are easy to weld in...I just need a welder.

I bought a early '78 diesel 2 door from the owner of that site. Unbelieveable clean car. CA blue plate 2 owner car, L model with deluxe interior and sunroof. Drove it home to Whitefish from San Francisco. 55 mph and 50 mpg.
Sold it to Averagedude who painted it and subsequently had a PVW feature. Kind of regret that one....
