Well poo...Most likely a dead MAF(hoping it only needed a cleaning)...Unplugged it and drove it around...runs fine. Now to find a deal on a new one...OEM Bosch is the way to go as far as I understand. Anyone know anything about Cardone remans? That is what Oreilly has ($99-$199) and I assume Napa ($104+shipping+$36 core). Not even gonna ask what 4 seasons wants for one....

Have any of you heard of the "Cage Mod"? Here's
a link to the original thread on tdiclub.com (and
here's a link to the Cage Mod revisited thread).
Basically someone figured out if you clean it out and stuff the connector with dielectric grease, it makes a big difference. I have a tube myself, but just haven't gotten around to doing it.
Figured it was worth considering, since dielectric grease isn't too terribly expensive.

Wow interesting results. I say give it a try and see if you can save that MAF!
I will try this too - I have a tube of DE grease sitting at home right now, although from the description of how to add it makes me think I will need more.
Nice suggestion Josh!

Well I tried the "cage" mod. It worked pretty well....for about 20 miles. Now it's throwing the P0102 - MAF Circuit Low Input and a P0113 - Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input. The IAT is part of the MAF, so that thing is definately toast now. I'm sure it was on its way out before I tried the mod, so I doubt that is what fried it.
Got a Bosch reman from napa for $97 with a year warranty. They claim if it throws anymore MAF codes they'll swap it out. I'll test their warranty by trying the cage mod on the new one.

Not that I'll notice much, if any, difference on my 2.0

Well at least you have the problem fixed.
