no symbol... but i did find the DTC port... now the problem is is cant get it to flash the codes at me and the only VAG in town is down till next week due to updates and new cables.

i have still yet to see the check engine light illuminate....

I don't think a 94 would have an immobilizer, my 97 GLX doesn't have one, you just need to get used to the locks!

Immo came in 1999.5 MKIV, so it's not that. My vote is ignition switch - the PO probably had 1000 key chains hanging out of the ingition switch and it broke.

Thats a 2x2 ODB1 port correct?

2x2 is obd1 i think

its actually a late model obd1 car so it has a obd2 style scan port.. but its still obd1. the random key not starting the car deal is from the imobilizer.. it gets reset when you lock and unlock the door with the key.

I am pretty sure there isn't an immobiliser in that car. I have put plenty of remote starters in those cars(including my own), and never have I run into an immobiliser. Until you get a switchblade key, no immo.
