ol Mr Sikkink. OT I suppose; did he take over the operation there?

Back on topic, does that motor in your tercel have the intake and exhaust ports on the same side?

Just put in a new cooling fan switch(fan was on continuously) and rejetted the carb. Runs like a top. At idle you can barely tell the thing is even running from inside. Hopefully it gets better mileage. Prior to the rejetting it was getting around 15mpg, so we'll see how it goes. Also the part of the turn signal switch failed, it is a $200 part. So, I studied the wiring diagrams and wired in a switch that is located on the dash next to the steering wheel. Total cost $5. Oh and changed the driveline/tranny fluid.

We loaded up the Peanut and were heading up to Eureka,MT for a camp trip. All our gear, food, drink, and dogs. We were heading up the pass toward Butte and started smelling oil burning. Got to the other side, checked the oil level. Almost empty. The head gasket blew. Oil coming out of the side of the head and probably into at least one of the cylinders. Burned through 3/4 of a gallon limping it back to Belgrade. I'm pulling the head later today and seeing what is up. :banghead:

Got the head off. Looks like the head gasket went before and tha previous owner just threw RTV on it andslapped it back together. bottom end seems fine Slight lip on cylinder(minor), no unusual wear.

Got the rest of the motor out... I felt some unusual play with piston #3. Bore measured fine. In the oil pan I found a piston skirt and what was left of the oil ring. They belonged to piston #3. When I get a chance I'll measure it up before rebuilding it.

Everything measured out and is getting machined. Head is decked and I should have it done tonight. Crank is getting polished, block is getting punched .020" over, and flywheel is getting resurfaced. Here's a pic of the rest of the piston.
