I found some time today to start working on my knockoff URST shift linkages so I threw some 0-1 in the lathe and turned down a new shift weight and misalignment spacers for the rod ends. It's quite a bit heavier than the mk3 counterpart, but that shouldn't be a bad thing. I wish it was stainless, but I used whatever was in the stock rack at the time. A little semi-gloss black and this part of the shift kit will be done. More to come...

CRAFTY!

So earlier I removed the rear Jetta emblem which was of course painted gold but I forgot that there are mounting holes behind it. So today in my shop I turned down some more Delrin and filled 'em up. They just bolt from the inside trunk area. Don't mind the neglected body work, ahaha I'll get to it one of these days...

Wish I could just make parts I need.

Yea it can be nice, but then you realize the part you've been working on for several hours could've been purchased for 20 bucks...

Haven't done much to the coupe lately, as the house projects have been keepin me busy, but I did find some time this past week to get some more small things done. I replaced the cubby and ash tray area with some real carbon fiber sheet leftover from other projects. Eventually, I'll throw some gauges in the top portion of it and some toggles in the lower but for now I threw the push button start back in it until I start trying to get the electrical back to stock. The hole it leaves will be replaced with the center gauge hole.
I also got my MOMO club 4 steering wheel installed which makes me very happy. I originally bought this wheel over 10 years ago and had it in my Jeep for several of them. Then it was installed in my Galant Vr-4 for a while after I sold the Jeep. That car sold a couple years back to a buddy who hasn't done much with the car since. After talkin with him, he offered the wheel back to me if I got him a stock DSM one. A quick trip to the junkyard yielded a minty stocker and my MOMO finally returned home to me. It's such a nice wheel to grip and I think it looks just about right in an old A2.
I'm also finally getting my brake stuff together, thanks to Trevor and Rob. New bearings are on their way from GAP (I'll give the sticker to you Trev...) as well as the remaining front end parts. I'm redrilling the hubs/rotors to 5x100 (I work in a well equipped tool room) then will throw some new wheels on to complete the look I'm going after. Looking forward to these next couple weeks...Here's a pic of the most recent progress:
