Oh no... I saw your post too late, I already recycled the car... Sorry about that. But i know of many mk2's in helena junk yards that have clean hatches. I can point you in the right direction if you need.

where are these so-called Helena junkyards? I've had shit luck finding any vws in yards around here

Al rose has a many vw's (including a mk2 with a hatch for you) they're at 8290 Applegate Dr. Way out in the valley. Also check out Synness which is past walmart heading towards east helena on the right past the nissan dealership. They have quite a few as well. Just ask the guys working where to find em.
