To add to this thread, I fixed a myriad of stored codes last night:

Code: Select all

Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: 1K0-907-379-MK60-F.lbl
   Part No: 1K0 907 379 K
   Component: ESP FRONT MK60      0104
   Coding: 0021122
   Shop #: WSC 00066 000 00000
   VCID: 3A70359E757794EE70-806E

2 Faults Found:
00668 - Supply Voltage Terminal 30
            002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent
00290 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Rear Left (G46)
            012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit
First, this had to be the toughest wheel removal I've ever done. The aluminum had started to oxidize and corrode on the steel hub, and formed a ring so that I couldn't get the wheel off. It took some penetrating oil (PB Blaster), rubber hammer and a steel pipe to get enough leverage to start rocking the wheel back and forth enough for it to finally break loose.

Took my drill and an abrasive wheel and smoothed all the surfaces, and threw some AP grease on it. Good to go, but I anticipate the same issue on the other side.

Rear left sensor wires (two wires, brown and black) were completely ripped out of the connector...just dangling there :sly:

Had to depin, wire up two new pins, terminate, and then guess at which wire went in which hole. Fixed.

Code: Select all

Address 0F: Digital Radio Labels: 8E0-035-593-XM.lbl

             Freeze Frame:
                    Fault Status: 01100000
                    Fault Priority: 7

FYI...bogus code. Anyone will get this if Sirius/XM tuner is not activated.

Code: Select all

1 Fault Found:
00928 - Locking Module for Central Locking; Front Driver Side (F220)
            008 - Implausible Signal
Failing solder points on the door lock module. Eventually I'll have to replace it, or pull it and resolder.

Code: Select all

Address 44: Steering Assist Labels: 1Kx-909-14x-44.clb

1 Fault Found:
00778 - Steering Angle Sensor (G85)
            000 -  -
Ended up being a combination of the ABS issue and having the battery unhooked. Needed to drive it and spin the wheel so the sensor would read a full path of travel. Fixed.

1 Fault Found:
00420 - Front Right DSP Midrange Speaker (R104)
            011 - Open Circuit
Opened up the passengers side panel - this mid range speaker was unplugged :screwy: However, I found the low range speaker is non-functional. So two new speakers will need to be installed - so they match.

This one comes and goes, I'll have to monitor it and test it when it gets colder outside.

Light was not connected, in fact, I couldn't even find the connector because it had been pushed into the door. The panel had been pulled before, and the high range speaker had been broken off, plus the low range speaker ring had been broken off of the door panel.

I had to heat weld (with a soldering iron) and melt the plastics back together, then get everything lined back up and the panel back on. Pain in the ass, but it won't fall apart, and it all works now.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That's all for now - I'll get to driving it and shake out the rest of the cobwebs. :thumbsup:
You got it. Heads up, that guy is a little OCD.
I just can't believe what PO's do (or don't do) with their vehicles. I kind of enjoy going through the little stuff like this and getting it all functional and back to OEM working order.
Drove it back and forth to work and running errands and it's a great little runner. Thought I would show-off the MPG this BRM motor gets, compared to my CJAA.
