I love the new GTI. I had one just like it. It brings back so many memoriues, pretty sweet it already has a 16V in it, that is a step a head already. you are money a head if you keep that motor. If you are not what are you going to do with it.

Can't wait to see the progress pics.

pshhhhhh..... the front end isnt that messed up, looks like it needs a new hood strike panel, some bumpers and a grill and you wouldnt be able to tell at all!

Oh man, I know that car, it hasn't run right in like 4 years. Multiple problems, from what I know. I can put you in touch with the guy that brought it into missoula like 6 or so years ago. I knew that David was getting rid of it, but I didn't know it was going to be that fast. I thought he was going to pull the motor and tranny, but maybe he got lazy........you wanted a project, you got it man..........not trying to sound like a dick here, but that car has history.......it sat for like 2 years once because it needed a clutch or something........now that I know it is that car, make it a roundie!

Like I said in my previous post, I knew it's been around the block.
I was looking for a ground up project anyways.
I am not afraid of building cars.
The engine is getting pulled and either rebuilding it from scratch or doing an engine swap.
I know I have alot in front of me but it's nothing I haven't done before with the 20+ cars i've owned.
Trust me, when I am done with it you won't recognize it with the exception of the roll cage insde.
I knew you'd say something about it because I knew you knew it's history. that's ok because I did too!

I figured that you probably knew the history, and I wasn't trying to be an ass about it. If you need 16V parts, I have a bunch, some are spoken for by me, but some are just extras. I am actually quite glad to see that it is going to be rescued! I was kinda bummed that he was going to send it to the yard, but I also knew that I couldn't adopt another one. Anyway, if you need help with anything, let me know, I need some inspiration to get back into my MK1 project 16v.

The tear down will start this weekend. Got my garage cleared out some today and got her garaged now.
