Big Sky Euro

So Saturday will be first real road trip for the beetle. A normal cruise is typically just around Laurel sometimes just past the river. So a trip to Lockwood is making me a little nervous. With small little 20 or 30 min trips around Laurel the oil temp would get to around 215 degrees. (Which from what I read is about normal) but since Saturday will more like 20 miles and the remote oil cooler hasn't really been tested I thought I should install a fan just incase. I didn't want to drill another hole for a switch to power the fan so I got a little sneaky. I figured that since the bug never will get driven in the rain I wouldn't need the switch for the wipers. So I pulled the wire off the wiper motor that would normally power the slowest cycle. Now when the switch is turned on it powers the cooler motor. And I still have the fast wiper setting if I really need it.

So it ran like a champ. I flipped the fan on at around 190 and oil temp never went above 210. Even at 60 mph for 12 miles. Now just for a front end alignment.

Well took the Beetle in to get the front end aligned this morning. Short story, it was to low to get it on the ramps. Lol. Well I guess it's time to get the tape measure out.

Been awhile since I got some goodies for the Beetle. I picked up almost complete set of glass for it (which I didn't really need) off of Craig's list for $25. The bonus part is these were included.
