Mine works on emkay4 stuff. Used a msd adapter for the tach and a 16v ssat cable for speedo. ECU gets speed signal off cluster reed switch the mk2 puts out for cruise and rrado rear spoiler. Mk4 temp sender puts the temp gauge dead center at 190degF.

  1. New Ecode housings w/ city lights
  2. New 9004 H/L bulbs and center H3 bulbs
  3. Wired in new H3 connectors
  4. Relayed the high and low circuits
  5. Rewired the center high lights, used weatherproof connectors so I can remove the grill easily
  6. Wired in city lights to the parking lights
  7. New twist/lock pigtail connectors on the front parking lights, from a NB
  8. New fog lights and bulbs (China specials, glass lenses)

You didn't wire them so you can have all six on at once? Don't you want to be able to see at night? I wire everything to work all the time. I even hacked the Treg to have full xenons, high beams, factory fog lights, and PIAA 520 fog lights on at the same time. I love it when people flash me with just my low beams on.......

You can pay for school, but you can't buy class.

#1 goal was to un-fuck the PO wiring. I can get all six if I go high beam and turn on the fogs.

Sure! Right now it's #2 in line behind the Allroad, so it's in the back. The motor I have in the garage, and I'm slowly putting it back together - I haven't updated my thread yet with progress.

OK, so long overdue update!

I've decided to make a few changes, one of them being that the 3.2 motor is not going to be swapped in right now - this is mostly because of budget. Not working right now, I have not a lot of money to throw at the swap. I will continue to gather the rest of the parts needed to do the swap, and I do plan on doing it down the road. I do want to get it running, and don't want it sitting around with no motor and trans in it, so to expedite the that, I am going to get it back to running/driving condition and begin to do somewhat of a restore and recondition, and eventually, and swap. It's such a great color and it's a nice MKII that needs to be back on the road and driven.

That brings in the fact that a 1991 GTI parts car came up on FB and I scored a bunch of parts, plus a 16v, trans, and all the things needed that need to be replaced/added to make it a complete car.

Pictures are before the motor/trans were pulled and given back to the PO as part of the request when I bought it.

Yes...those are hockey pucks

Here's the parts car/donor - picked this up from Ki in Missoula with a bill of sale. I'm parting it out and the shell will get a new home and will go on to be an epic build for another BSE member, who I will have reveal themselves at their convenience

Sounds like the motor needs a head gasket, so I'll get the motor swapped in and take care of that.

Thats it for now, I'll hopefully get some time around and after Thanksgiving to get working and I'll keep updating this thread.
