Not much progress. It was an "On-Call" week for me at work, and a crummy one at that leaving me without much time to get schiz done. See what I can do today though.

Can't seem to find my speedo cable. Anyone got one for a g60 or a 16v Passat sitting around?

Oh............ and I can work on my wyres some more now. Got a terminal release kit. Works awesome on all VW connectors and plugs.

Looking at my motor mount after my buddy's busted into pieces on his B3, I found mine was welded back together too. So a thanks goes out to the parts people at MIG for going the extra mile and getting this hard to find NOS part from across the pond. A few places online say they have them, but they don't.

So I finally have a VSS signal to the ECU and a working MK2 speedo meter. Import Group had a B3 speedo cable on the shelf. There is not much info on the VSS for the 1.8t swap for some reason, and what is out there seems to be all over the place. I had two tuning companies tell me the ECU does not need it to run properly but I can tell you it drives a ton better with it. I just hooked up the output from my MFA cluster directly to the ecu and Vag-Com started reading an accurate speed even though its a 7v signal rather than the 12v the MK4 cluster was putting out.

Seems like the car is running well but it does not feel like all the power is there. I'm running the stock 16v cat still and I think that's part of the issue. Other thing is probably the flat torque curve. I'm used to driving the car with cams and a chip that really deliver at 4K and above.

These will make it faster though. NOS FTW!

That little T3 snail will peter out about 5K, it's a different animal...maybe that's all it is. Do you know what your peak boost is at?

Nice OEM stuff!! Love that terminal toolset...jealous.

Mike, I bet you're right. I have no tach or boost gauge at the moment so its probably in my head. That speedo creeps up fast though :)

And yeah J, damn that 20th.......... that car set the bar pretty high. Not sure what the HP was on the 16v. Should have been right around 175 or maybe a little higher with the catback, cams and chip?

I'm still a long way from being finished with this build. Once I have everything mechanical and electrical sorted, I can worry about getting it dialed in and tuned. I'm just happy its driving smooth. Without the VSS it was dead in 5th gear and had a terrible power delivery.

Brandon, speedo cable was a shot in the dark. I was shocked that you guys had one and so was Tom :)

Speaking of which, is there a way i can run a speedo cable from the transmission, and get the vr ecu a signal somehow? my cluster isnt MFA and the sensor is tapped straight to the ecu for its signal, so hard to find a b3 VR6 cluster
