It's pitted from the rust - it was more than surface rust. It's been blasted, but it was in rough shape. Still looks good from a distance.

Looks like a solid unit, much better than my busted one.

I always love it when the UPS guy rolls up to the house. It's makes me feel like a little kid during Christmas. And I have to say I have had Christmas a lot lately.  How about you?

Ah, no worries although I will keep it in mind next time. Do you have any other AC parts hanging around? Most of what I have had to get for the bus I have had to get used from TS because there is nothing for parts around here. The biggest thing I am looking for is a replacement 1972 rear bumper, one year only (mine was mangled by the machine shop I had work on the spot where it was hit). And I will need a set of 2L heads, good cores or reman, at some point. Seems like I always have my eye out for any parts I can stock up on...must be an aircooled owner thing :)

i dont really have mucbh for busses unfortunately. its pretty limited here for sure too. do you go on thesamba.com at all? im sure they would have a set of 2.o heads i think there are even a few adds for new heads. im always gathering aircooled parts i have a shed full filled half way to the roof and i think the floor is going to go soon haha. i just cant seem to say no to cheap or free vw stuff.

Finally got some time to work on the bus - I was able to get the air box mount I had fab'd bolted in to the engine bay:

Bolted up my 210mm flywheel:

Picked up a new tool, a dial indicator - measured endplay at around .003 - shims are all good!

Power washed the top of the bus, shiny!
