I tried this. I was pretty generous with the holes too; turned my box into swiss cheese. As soon as I turned on the car the airbox reverberated enough to hear over the engine idle. Then when you got up and got on it, it was really bad (almost sounded like a ricer's fart pipeDubber wrote:Drilled holes in my airbox =)

I have a filter on a stick (hot air intake). Sounds really nice at anything over 3.5K.DynoJetta wrote:I tried this. I was pretty generous with the holes too; turned my box into swiss cheese. Covered up the holes with duct tape until I get a replacement or upgrade.

I was pretty reserved with the holes. It opened it up a bit more, my butt dyno can't really tell anything though.. who knows..
I can, however, hear my turbo whistling. And that, my friends, is worth it =)
Dynojetta - did you block the hot side of the intake?
Did you screw holes into the hot side as well? I screwed mine onto the car VERY well again, so it would not have any annoying rattling problems.

Re: What did you do for your Volkswagen today?
I pulled it out and took a look at where the water typically hit. Everywhere that was clean, and I felt wouldn't get any water splashed on, I drilled holes. It pretty much consisted of the bottom, and the fender side of the airbox. I secured the box as snugly as I usually do, but it still reverberated. When I get a chance, I'll take a picture of it and show what it looks like.
