Lol, just playing devil's advocate. I did find some upholstery material though that will work well. Before I could start though I had to finish the clutch job on the old Jetta:

Scraped, then used my RO sander to remove all the old foam. I am using this contact cement call Dap Weldwood - stuff is strong and should make a solid bond between the cardboard backer and the new vinyl. Used the old vinyl as a template and making sure to leave a bit extra all around it was glued and set:

The clamps were there to add some pressure to the spots that were tough to hold by hand.
