so im wanting to get more power for this season of drag racing and while researching i camer across a set of handmade plenum styke intake manifolds. they say they are for BIG HP and i want BIG HP so instead of paying 400 bucks im paying 20. im making them out of 1 7/8' aluminum tube aluminum sheet and 1/2 aluminum for the flanges. the main plenum section will be 7' long.
first i took a 2 1/8" hole saw to cut out the end caps for the main plenum section

i then added a bolt to the center so i could put it in the lathe to make it the same diameter as the O.D. as the tube.
then i welded the cap to the end of the tube and filled the hole in the center from the hole saw.
I took the same 2 1/8" hole saw and cut one piece of tube in half with it to create the coped ends to fit on the pipe. these sections will connect to the Y pipe with couplers

fits like a glove

coupler end welded to the main plenum

both ends all cleaned up and coupler sections welded to plenum

thats as far as i got tonight i stil need to make the runner section from the plenum to the fland and the flange itself but ill need the complete motor to get my spacing correct so the Y pipe will be straight across. ill also have to build a new Y pipe.
