Got this little gem in the mail on Friday.
It's the bose amp out of an S8 and the best part is it's plug and play. Upgrades mine from the stock 80w to 200w and should increase the quality of sound quite a bit. Can't wait to get it in and try it out.

Installed the S8 amp last night. Took 15 min and wow, what a difference. So much better than saving 15% on car insurance. This is what it should have sounded like from the factory. The frequency range is the same, naturally since the speakers are the same, but the sound stage fills up the whole cabin and then some. The distortion is gone and it doesn't feel like your trying to squeeze the sound out the head unit anymore. What a great mod for <$100. This has bugged me since I bought the car, and it's embarassing that my base model Malibu stereo sounded better than the stock bose system. Not anymore

I picked mine up off ebay. You're looking for 1997-2003 A8 or S8 amp, part number 4D0 035 225 C.

Car go boom! Died going down the interstate south of Boulder. I think it's one of the cam chains, so that would only be top end damage, but I won't know till they get into it. Towed it to V'DUB's, but Eric doesn't want to tackle the internals, so it's heading down to Bozeman to bleed money at the dealership. Only bit of good news is my insurance is covering all the towing. This will not be cheap.
I'd post a picture of it on the tow truck, but websense blocks all the picture sites at my work.
