Got to the intake tonight. Had to unbolt the passengers motor mount and jack up the motor to reach the intake bolts on the upper intake runners. Anyway...

I don't think it looks too bad, for a motor that has 125K and was run dry until seized. Seems like too much slack in the cam chain.

What do you guys think?

Looks like the chain is broke.

Possible, I could see how that could happen. I'll have to dig into it when I pull the motor.

I may need it for the swap. But if I get this AAA long block I could share the love if I have extra parts. I'll keep you updated, I'm planning on making a deal with the yard on it tomorrow.

Purchased the AAA block today. Also made a deal to throw in a few extra parts from another MKIV with the motor. Time to get that dead weight pulled out and on a stand.

My VR6 seems to like loose/broken timing chains! Not really.

Not broken, just some slack. Well, a lot of slack now.

Some melted bearings

Block is still solid and the crank is OK, but the rod journals would need machined and polished, or just get a new crank. Mains look great. Oil pump turns smoothly. This may be a great donor block is someone wants to bore it over :unibrow:

Ordered a Sachs VR6 clutch kit and flywheel, 70C thermostat, crack pipe and various seals.
