From what I understand 2001 US Audis don't have immobilizers. I think I'm going to have to break down and take it to a mechanic.

On the B6 there is a fuse #29 that will blow and the same symptoms occur, so check that fuse in the main panel. I would also pop the ECU cover and check the main power fuse there and google for issues with relays associated to starting problems.

So I -finally- took the car to Auto Stop. Looks like the problem was with one of the sensors I replaced but somewhere along the way it had flooded out and washed the cylinder walls, so no compression. Runs like a charm and starts on the first turn, which it's never done for me. I really missed the hell out of this car.
