Oh and I had to drain the tank of old gas, not much, but enough that it wouldn't start. The rubber feed and return fuel line were toast, so I have replacements. And the upper intake boot is ripped, and I have a replacement for that too thanks to Randy. I have new oil, filter and plugs. And see above...I'm shopping for tires now - it's hard to find a 13" tire that's bigger than a 175.

I'll clean it up, and it looks like I have some patching and welding in my future. I found some floor pan rust and I think a small hole or two, and that bit in front of the shock tower that needs attention.

Time to think about getting a welder.

1980 Caddy project - updated

Post by YASHA7FOLD »

I will let you know what I have on the rabbit. I think they're 14's but will have to see what the tire size is. I think it fills in the fenders nicely.

Ohh man, RA's would be awesome. Or snowflakes. Anyone have a set they would part with?

Thanks Wade, yeah I think 14's are gonna be the way to go.

I run flakes on the GTI with 185/60/14s, and they seem fine. OOOHH Mike I have some MK3 Jetta GT wheels that might like a new home 14" also. This is a net pic, but mine have decent rubber on them.

For the OEM+ flava!

Sure thing Mike, they are in Crawlspace taking up space. I got them cause I was gonna use them on my Mk1 project, which is a non starter. Always thought they would look good on a Mk1, and no lug swap, hehe. As I said, tires are good as well, not sure what size, but I can jump down there and see.

Think about how much stuff you could have come home with if you had bought the caddy BEFORE the end of the trip?
