I was lookin around at just specs of the 1.8t engines. Does any one know if I can throw an AWP ecu in and have it work. The spec sheet on the Vortex shows the only difference is .2 more compression on the AWP and 2.9 more PSI of boost. I'm trying to keep this thing OEM as possible and want to avoid aftermarket as much as possible.

Hmm, you'd have to deal with the IMMO on the ECU and cluster which means hacking ECU's to turn bits off (possible bricking) or going to the dealer for a cluster and key recode. That's far from OEM, and doesn't seem worth it to me for 3psi.
You could do the diode mod, but it's a hack.
Best bet is to give in and get a flash to stage 1, you can leave it stock but it opens up the performance a lot, at least 30HP and 50TQ. And you'll gain +10 psi boost.
You won't regret it, trust me.

The diode mod doesn't adjust the fuel/air mixture for more boost it just tricks the ecu into producing more boost with out it knowing about it, is that right?

The diode taps into the MAP sensor (not MAF) and tell the ECU it needs more boost, so you get moar. But yeah, it's not adjusting with your A/F mapping. Hack, boooo.

So if I decided to do the diode mod, I might as well put hub cap spinners on it, a spoiler that reaches the heavens, cut the springs, an unpainted body kit(attatched with wood screws of course), a muffler the size of a coffee can, and a David Hasselhoff vinyl wrap(keep it German)

I'm not sure I really want to put that much $ into performance mods, I was seeing if there are any inexpensive ways to get a couple more HP with out affecting the reliability. I will probably upgrade the down pipe when I replace it with a TT.

Did some work in the past few days. New passenger side half shaft, found the boost leak, new stock TIP, new vacuum lines, new ARP stub mount, fixed PS leak. Boost leak was the hose going into the intercooler, torn under clamp. I moved the hose in and clamp back for now. The stub mount was more work than I thought it would be, not hard just more work. I also did the Seafoam service/exhaust leak test. I have an exhaust leak at where the rock hit the down pipe and between the exhaust manifold and the turbo. other than that it is running great and smooth. It is nice not having the engine jerk the car back every time you lay into it(thank you ARP mount).

Had to take the front end apart a little to get that mount in.
