Re: okay new rabbit new build thread.......
Look for updates here, some of the things i "hurried" are making B a sad boy, the updates said above are soon to go into full-motion. next summer will likely be its "true" debut, with the things i wanted to get done, and didnt. ill be running decent boost, with decent tranny, it WILL go on YNP. needs to upgrade the cooling system as well, gets hot on those long summer days. i think ill pull the power train, then redo the bay, followed by some fabrication of 02A motor mounts. i would like to put in a CAE shifter but 1000 bucks is hard to come by all at once these days//// i might try and build one.

Re: okay new rabbit new build thread.......
SO, here we go again.
Parts to go on order this week:
Hallman Pro Boost Controller
and maybe an 02A heavy duty clutch. 6 puck sprung.
Once some room opens up in the garage and or we get into our shop, ill start tear down. got some little things to repair along the way some oil seals and what not. Got to roll the fenders, i want to do a TDI fifth in whatever trans i can get, with these little wheels i can use all the help i can get on the highway.
the work that has to be done isnt a whole lot.
list of things to be crossed off:
1. Remove engine trans, break down/clean
2. strip engine bay to bare metal/ stitch weld everything i can.
3. clean and paint 02A transmission (yet to own)
4. re-shave engine bay, with weld in trays smooth strut towers.
5. fabricate drivers side and rear transmission mount.
6. notch the frame rails, so the axles dont come into contact anymore.
7. re-seam seal the inner fenders and inside the fenders (it hurts to hear rocks and pea gravel flying around in there)
8. re-wire the standalone and engine bay (third time
)
9. redo the entire cooling system, and if $ permits, all braided stainless fuel system and aftermarket FPR.
10. redo the brake lines i got the order wrong on the cylinder
and the car pulls/ brakes un-evenly.
12. repaint engine bay and install trim. Add some seam sealer to the rear and....................
11. finally get the pig to Dyno-Jet for some load mapping and numbers!
stay tuned

Re: okay new rabbit new build thread.......
well, that was easy, ive secured an 02A matt gave me his as a christmas gift. its all clean already just gonna do a gasket kit, if i can figure out how to take it apart and put it back together successfully, ill do a bolt kit and new synchros. my vw trans knowledge is sub-par, i need to get on that. Cant afford a diff, so im checking into an 80 percent shim kit. TDI fifth might have to come later. unless one of you-ins got one laying about

Re: okay new rabbit new build thread.......
Again, gearbox knowledge sub par. the 020 i built did. What about that gasket that sits under the fifth gear cover? i know they have o-rings inside tho, thats more what im referring to, they also dont make a differential shim kit. so no kind of posi or po mans posi this year
its light enough it should still do ok. My mk2 G60 always laid two stripes and its 02A didnt have posi, maybe it was cooked
im gonna need help, this is me hollering at you

Yeah, it has the 5th gear, axle, and input shaft seals, what I meant is that there's no paper gasket between the case halfs, just sealant.
There wasn't any o-rings inside of mine as fat as I can remember...
MT-Ghetto you're going to hell for that one. You should also reply to my PM broham.

Re: okay new rabbit new build thread.......
is it vw specific sealant? on a scale of 1-10 how hard is it to get these apart and back together, i know you did all that work on yours.
