Silly kitty......
Well, the conclusion to my saga:

Looks like that bearing toasted and kept going for a while. I lost oil pressure when the intermediate shaft broke. This does not look repairable.

It's not how fast you go. It's how well you go fast.

omg wtf that is nuts! I have never seen or heard of anything like that from a vr6. I have heard of intermediate shaft bearings going, but not that bad. O_O

damn look how clean that break was..... the forces to make that happen are incredible. with how much load an IM shaft has, thats pretty unexplainable.

The heat generated by the bearing failure, helped it break cleanly.Ouchkompressorgolf wrote:damn look how clean that break was..... the forces to make that happen are incredible.
I spun a bearing and broke a crankshaft, looked similar.

Re: VR6 GLI Build
I wonder if there is such a thing as an overbore bearing for that? I bet a talented machinist could clean it up and maybe add some metal and then grind it back down to spec. May cost too much $$ tho...I bet you can find another VR block or motor somewhere for a few hundo.
That's the breaks man! But I have a feeling you'll be rocking it again in a little while.

To have so much fun, for so short of a time, and then to have it taken away from you, that is just not fair....
