So those clamps then are a vw part?

Yup, from an air cooled Vw throttle cable.

You get hydraulics figured out for the clutch?

I haven't got it all plumed in yet. I think I have it all planed out the only thing I'm not sure about is the o2m clutch line has a little metal puck looking thing in the line. I'm not exactly sure what it is yet, after a small amount or research it seems to be an accumulator that reduces the amount of pressure it take to push the clutch peddle down. I'm going to try and run without it at first and see how it feels. I might go back latter and try and fit it in somewhere. Any input?

That confused me too. I could not find the part in any of the diagrams or parts list

My plan today was to put the flywheel and such on the engine and install it in the car. Then I decided I would clean the really dirty spots.. That kind of snowballed into me cleaning the block. Then removing a bunch of stuff, and cleaning that too. I tried to fight off the urge to scrub it down, I just couldn't hold out any more. That's not how I build cars. So I took a few steps in the wrong direction today, but I have some really clean parts! Image
I'm not sure if I'm going to paint things or not this time.

Nice!!! You may want to consider replacing the slave cyl on that transmission if they are not too spendy. A real pain being inside the bell housing :/

I saw some clean part I wanted to be black, no colors anymore I want them to be black!
First coat done. I think I've decided to make everything I can black in the bay. I'm not entirely sold on that idea yet, all these shiny parts are kind of making me want more!
