I took the Passat camping up in Eureka, MT. The exhaust leak got worse. After 3k it gets loud and I feel a sufficient power loss. I also tested out the new skid plate(not intentionally). After the hit i got out to look at the plate and someone asked "how is it?", my response "awesome." I ordered a new TT downpipe, new copper nuts and every gasket from the head to the DP. Might as well go through them all. I think I'll polish out the inside of the manifold when i have it off and paint it. On a side note, the camping trip was awesome. That is some beautiful country up there.

I am really starting not to like this engine. It is started consistently shaking at idle..

A couple of the vacuum check valves look deteriorated on the outside. One rear turn signal keeps not working, I'll jiggle the socket and it works for awhile. argggg the Rocco never gave me this many problems.

Push through it man, it'll pass. The crappy check valves suck, but don't delete them, no matter what anyone tells you, ask me how I know. They get brittle over time so be careful if you're poking around because they tend to break or pop in half. There's one called the suction jet pump - it's the big one by your brake booster - check that one for any leaks or if it's broken.
And I had the same issue with my Audi - luckily the taillights are easy to remove. Just bend the tabs a bit and replace the bulbs.

Replaced the suction jet pump and a bunch of check valves(i still need the one with the extra port on it). I found a tear in a tube that goes to one of the check valves, fixed that. So far, it feels better. Throttle is no longer jerky, not shaking at idle, acceleration is smoother, and slightly more power. The exhaust leak continues to get louder. I'm going to deal with that next weekend. I have all my parts for that job. I hope that fixing the exhaust leak will return the power that was lost after I hit that rock. And that the TT downpipe and porting the stock manifold will give me a little more power

still working on getting all the exhaust back together. I found my hand vacuum pump and decided to check the diverter valve since I had to replace the vacuum line. It doesn't hold vacuum. It never ends.

Seems like we're both trying to tame the beast they call 1.8T. It'll start getting better, and it's nice to know your car inside and out. She'll start to appreciate her new owner soon enough
