I bought it that way. the timing chain was a disaster and looks like timing jumped a few teeth and made quite a mess of valves.

my name there is brownsoda

How is the 5-speed conversion working for you?

Check engine light is for the oxygen sensor. I think I just fucked it up putting the water pump in. lol. :tear:

But damn, it feels good to hop in and go for a rip around the neighborhood in a Corrado with no exhaust past the cat. Sounds like a stock car. :unibrow:
Good to see someone elbows deep in a project like that.
How do you like the 5-speed?
What code is the 02A you swapped in?
What flywheel and clutch are you running?

Great effort! Hope it is working well for you.

Its working alright, trans could use a rebuild with a LSD.

It was actually no exhaust after the down pipe... Sounded so nice.

Dunno what code it was.. I am running an autotech 13lb flywheel and sachs clutch

Interesting... the reason I asked about the code is that I have a 95 Jetta VR6 w/ 02A that I will be rebuilding this winter and will be installing a Peloquin LSD and changing the ring and pinion to match the close ratio Corrado "CDM" set-up, I will change to the diesle 5th gear for highway use.

Once I have collected all the required parts and removed the tranny, I will be looking for an experienced shop to do the rebuild with LSD.

Any recomendations for local shops for our 02A LSD rebuilds???
