Image

Suprisingly there wasn't a ton of "satan's snot" glue!!! WOOO HOOO!!!

Image

Starting to look bare!

WOO HOO, Still no rust!!!

No more wiring!!!

No more windshield!!!! HOLY CRAP WAS IT A PAIN IN THE ASS TO GET OUT!!!

Image

And this is why!!! One of the previous owners had used the nastiest friggin black sticky, stringy tar crap all around the inside of the window. Here is a lil fraction of what I had to scrape out before I could pull the windshield....

Image

LOOK, I finally came across some rust!!! Very minimal and not rotted through!!!

And here she sits now. I gotta finish the floorboards on the pass side then start sanding the jambs for paint.

Uh, you should have called me for the windshield removal, I have a tool that would have had it out in like 30 seconds. For real. And the black stuff that you found is called butyl, and it sucks. used alot in the 70s and early 80s, and Ford still uses it today to seal quarter glasses on it's vehicles.

Actually the removal wasn't bad, I just used a shifter wire for a mountain bike and ran it around the bead of the windshield, I was complaining more about the actual scraping that shit out of there. It sticks to EVERYTHING!!!
Thanks though!

BUTYL=HELL :banghead:

here is an ancient chinese installer secret. Butyl sticks best to butyl. Get a small piece loose and then stick it to itself and it will pull off the paint. But since you didn't call me, I will tell you this after the removal. :ninja:

Looking good!!!
I know the feeling of completely tearing one down like that.
I found dead mice and bee hives, but little rust?
The carpet glue took alot of patience on my interior.
