I have 20% on three of my cars and I wouldn't go any darker. At 5% your going to be rolling your window down and sticking your head out in the cold to back up at night, I've seen friends do it.

Sorry some of you don't like what I prefer.
Right now I have 30% and the BLACK LEATHER still heats up, and will keep fading. The 5% will give the car some real privacy that the lighter stuff doesn't. I can't wait!

This is just my opinion, with some fact thrown in, take it as you will! Almost every winto film out there rejects 99% of UV rays, but they do vary on Solar energy reflected based on shade. For instance, my Aegis HP Advantage film block 46% of solar energy with 30% film. The 4% film blocks 63%. So you are really only looking about a 17% increase in solar rejection. For my time, money, interior, and legality, I would leave it at 30%, but that is just me. Although I did have a Missoula County Sheriff come into the shop this morning and actually explain the tint laws to me(better than I already knew them, at least). In MT it is legal to tint the fronts down to 24% and the rears down to 14%. We have thought that it has always been 35%/20% in the state, and have tinted that way for years. man are people going to be happy!
b) the front side windows have sunscreening or other transparent material that has a luminous reflectance of more than 35% or has light transmission of less than 24%;
(c) the rear window or side windows behind the front seat have sunscreening or other transparent material that has a luminous reflectance of more than 35% or has light transmission of less than 14%, except for the rear window or side windows behind the front seat on a multipurpose vehicle, van, or bus;
Thanks Stoney, this is exactly what he handed me this morning!

Bauss, all those number made me go
Jodi, I have black leather, and an Avant (2 more windows) so tint was a big deal to drop the interior temps. 20% is what I have all around, and it helps. It's still gonna get HOT. Aeron and Stoney know their stuff, but you make the call, it's your car
I think we are just throwing out our concerns to a fellow enthusiast, not meaning to hate on ya.
