Put a deposit down on a 2010 TDI sedan today. It's down in SLC, so Beth and I will fly down in a couple of weeks to pick it up and drive it home. And an FYI, it's for Beth, not me...I'm still going to daily drive my Audi.
A few years ago I test drove a Fahrenheit GTI and shifting was a bit harsh, but I was really impressed with the performance. Fast forward to a few months ago, we test drove a 2009 Jetta TDI here in town and both of us (FTR, we both drive manuals, and have for years) were impressed how it performed. It shifts faster, smoother and crisper than a manual and it gets the same mileage, plus it has tiptronic mode - in comparison, it's better than my Audi tiptronic was. Finally VW has an "automatic" that's worth driving.
short story, 2011 gti hit pothole got flat, ordered new tires, changed to spare, then car wouldn't start, chain tensioner failed and vw just replaced the whole engine and turbo free of charge, dropped off rs4 reps i paid $50 for to get powder coated gold for the new tires to go on it.
