I was an ass and really lowballed him. He called me back a week later and took my offer, so it's ended up being a fairly cheap toy especially if I can reseal the turbo and get rid of the oil smell from the exhaust.

You gotta do that. Sucks but has to be done. I just got taken by a dude buying my motorcycle. Just the way it goes.

I spent some time on the rabbit getting it into useable condition. I replaced the broken door handles so all the doors work.

I replaced the windshield weatherstrip and dropped in a good used windshield I had laying around. I happened to have a seal without the groove for the locking insert. I think it looks OK, but man this style is a pain to put in.

I also tossed in a dash mat to cover up the extremely destroyed dash

Everything seems to work alright now. I think its still burning a little oil, the turbo will get a rebuild kit soon. I also think if I drive it much more I will have to through in a 5 speed to make the highway a little more fun, it tachs up pretty high with the 4 speed at decent cruising speeds.

I am now officially out of room for cars. I had two more deals I could not pass up. I picked up a B5 Passat wagon with a 1.8T and 5 speed to turn into my kid hauler. I am tired of paying for gas for my suburban in town and my old VWs aren't all that safe to haul the kids around in. It has the deadly sludge build up from running non synthetic oil. I have another head and turbo. I hope the short block is rebuildable. I don't have any pics of it yet, but I do have pics of my other purchase. I just can't let an old VW go to the scrap yard, so I end up with all the projects people abandon. This one was built about fifteen years ago, but they couldn't get it to run right. Unfortunately since then some parts have been taken off, but most of the components are still there.

If you have any questions or anything with the B5 feel free to shoot me a message. I've got the same motor and I've experienced just about everything possible with mine, haha.

Another one followed me home yesterday. The timing belt lost it cogs and then the previous owner put on a new belt. He figured the valves were bent when it wouldn't start after the new belt. I put the belt on with the correct timing and 45 minutes after I got it home I was driving it around.

Unfortunately its a 2.0 automatic, but it has fairly low miles.

I still want to take one particular one off your hands to free up some of your space. And your 16v head is ready to go.

I have been busy lately and actually made some headway on some VWs

MkIV Jetta has a new water pump, timing belt, drive belt, plugs, wires, and Valve Cover Gasket. Still have to find clunk in front end. I think it is an upper strut mount

80 Caddy seems to take two steps backward everytime I try to fix something. Some new injectors made the 1.5 diesel come to life and run pretty well. It still needs a fuel shut off solenoid because whenever the engine comes up to temp it refuses to allow fuel to flow. It's great as long as I don't shut it off warm. Then we pulled off the aftermarket A/C brackets and found a bolt broken off so had to pull the water pump to fix it. I still have to pull out the bolt before reassembly can begin, but I have a new timing belt, tensioner, water pump and thermostat. Hopefully it will be cruising around this week.

84 GTI is getting new control arm bushings, balljoints, strut mounts, struts, timing belt and tensioner, waterpump, and oil seals. I also upgraded the sway bar while I was at it.
