Uh, I have a small update. Just a tiny one...
Today. I decided to drop the car off at josh's house and have him put the FMIC on.
So, then, i called josh and talked with him a bit, and he says, why dont you bring the downpipe over as well, it really should not be that hard...
so, i figured what the hell, maybe he will be done friday or something like that.
Well. I went over to josh's house after school today and at around 10 this night, my downpipe is on, the FMIC is on. and we are test driving it.
It is simply unbelievable the difference that the turbo, the downpipe, and the fmic makes on the car.
absolutely unbelievable. Josh got it on so quickly, my head is still spinning.
I think it took him about an hour to get the downpipe off, new one on, sensors hooked up, and everything working well.
The front mount works AWESOME. You can put your hands on the hot side, going into the intercooler. and then put your hand on the cold side, and.. there is about a 80 degree difference. and mind you, thats not even with the car MOVING. its just sitting there!!
The turbo will only boost about 23 pounds max. so i guess i don't really need that overboost kit... but who knows.. i may put it on there anyways..
Now all josh has to do is tweak a bit of the tubes to get them fitting optimally and put the bumper back on..
then i need to reflash my ECU and clear the codes with vag com and see how its running.
The car is damned fast and i am absolutely loving it.
Just like fucking mcdonalds.
Bad news, i got totally dicked around by vallie automotive.
He said he cleaned out the intercooler(the SMIC) and when josh took it off, oil dumped out of it. Hmm that was 138 dollars that i paid for that apparently did not get handled. It's either he did not clean it, or my absolutely brand new turbo is leaking already. Im prone to thinking he did not clean it.
The turn signals were not plugged in. my horn no longer works, my alignment is messed up. Josh was going through the pipes and things of that nature, and he kept running into bits and pieces that were not screwed down all of the way and shit that was done in a half assed manner...
The bill Tim (Vallie Automotive) was 1100 dollars to -
put the k04 on
put the new manifold on
fix the oil sensor
put new spark plugs in
clean the intercooler pipes and smic - which he did not do...
drop the pan and look at it to make sure there was no sludge
So i went back to tim and i said, whats going on?!?
my alignment is out of whack.. why?
He said, well that was not me, we would not have been near that....
Must have been that way when you brought it in.
I said my turn signals and horn and things like that were not hooked up and working. The smic was not cleaned...
wtf?!
Oh, well I have a new guy and i had him do a lot of the stuff on that end. You should bring it back in and we will fix it for you.
I was not for that option seeing as i dropped it off to have the work done and i got it back two and a half weeks later. still not working right or put together properly.
I told him i was pissed and there was a lot of conversation after this but in the end, he said, well I may be able to work with the bill a little bit after i get paid in full with it, but at this point i have already paid adam for the work so im sorry there is nothing i can do.
I was like why the fuck do i care that you already paid your worker to do a shitty job. I paid you 75 dollars an hour to do a good job. and i got a shitty job, and your telling me, well i already paid the guy to do the shitty job, so you still have to pay me for the good job.
Oh, by the way - he charged me 48 dollars to put new spark plugs in...
???
I have done that in under 5 min. WHAT THE HELL!
BAH, im fuming.
Any advice as to what i should do??
Josh has tons of photos of everything he found and shit like that.
I am just pissed.
But on the bright side, my car is now running like a champ, and hopefully it all finalizes very well.
In the end its all thanks to me throwing a ton of money at the car, and then actually having it finished right by josh.
Also - I found out that the car already has a 4.0 Bar FPR on it...
HMM, maybe its been modified more than i was led to believe that it was??

More reasons to buy a Bentley, a set of tools, and work on your car yourself Grant!
Glad to hear the car is running great!

Don't go back and recommend to all your friends not to go back. ESPECIALLY if you've already tried to work with him on something. Report 'em to the BBB and move one with your day, write-off the crap work and enjoy the new car. Your blood pressure will thank you in the end.

Did you use a credit card? If you did you can dispute it with them.

I am just going to throw this out there, 23 psi might be a bit much for a stock bottom end. You might also never have a problem with it, but I am just saying be careful. But I know how you like boost.
