Thanks Wes that did help. I tracked the issue down to the low/high selector in the turn switch.

Ended up being just a PO problem and a busted part...the tab on the back of the stalk had been broken off, and the sliding selector was non-functional.

Luckily I still had an assembly that came off my old B3 Passat, so I pulled the assembly and swapped the part out. It actually was OK because I was able to clean up the old grease and get some new dielectric grease and clean up the terminals.

Works like a charm now!

Put the bumper back on and rigged up some temp fogs with some old turn pigtail connectors:

Fogs work!

I have new H4 assemblies coming from GAP, and I have to wire up my city lights, which I will also relay and put on a second OEM switch in the dash.

From here, I'd like to get it running on the 16v and then I'll gather parts and it's getting swapped.

After getting the lighting mostly squared away, I wanted to try and get the GTI running. The fuel system was quite hacked together, but appeared to be functional with some repair. I didn't get picture, but most of the clamps were low pressure only, and that was not going to hold up with the FI system.

So I dug through my toolbox and found a bunch of FI style clamps, and replaced all the questionable ones. Still needs some work, but it was enough to hold pressure and get the job done.

Runs and drives under it's own power! Still lots of things to get working, interior to put back together, and parts to find and put in place. Not to mention swap in the R32 motor and all associated bits.

Progress!
