Just A quick question and it is dumb so i'm sorry for the ignorance.
I want to get a Euro Headlight switch for the wagon, my question is, is there any wierd installing I do or is it simply just pull the old one off and putting the new one on. Just curious.
Thanks
Matt

Pretty sure you can never have a dumb question. If you are not sure and you need a second opinion.......ask away!!!!

Thanks, and since we are on the subject, can I just install it? My next question not to jack my own thread but oh well, is how do I know what bolt pattern I have on my Wagon, I know it is five bolts, but 5x what. A friend was over with his A6 tonight and his bolt pattern was a lot bigger than mine, It was still a five bolt but a lot bigger spaced. So if anyone knows that would be awesome. I need to find adaptors and I don't know what to get.

The Euro switch is just that simple. If you want to hook up front or rear fog lights you will have to run some wires back to it put its pretty easy.
Your bolt pattern should be 5X100, I think all mk4 are.

Thank you I just need to find 5 X 100 adaptors. Also I'd love to run front and rear fogs, where would I mount the rear fogs, and how do I put new wires to the switch. Also where do I get rear fogs. I know they work well on the Audis, they should work well on my wagon. Thanks for the info. Off to ebay.

I think the rear fogs are just in the tail lights. Fronts you have a couple options, either down below like most fogs or they make headlights with the fogs built in.

Matt, if you do a search on Vortex, there are several threads about wiring of euro switchs.
If I remember correctly there are even some diagrams.

To remove your factory lightswitch, you simply push in on your switch and turn it and then pull straight out, the switch will then come out in your hand. Unplug the harness, and plug in the new one. then slide the switch back in. Total install time, 30 seconds. As for rear fogs, it depends on if you have a rear foglight hold in your taillights. If you do, there will be empty bulb socket on one (or both) of your taillights. You will then need to find out what bulb you need, and put one in. You will then need to figure out how to turn on that circuit. You may need to run a wire from an empty spot on the euro switch to the light. I do not know which spot you need, or which spot on the taillight you need. I could figure it out if the car was here, but I can't do it over the computer. If you want dual rear fogs, you will need to run a jumper wire to the other light. FYI if you decide to do only one, do the driver's side, that is the tradtional one. *whew*

Thanks everyone and Aeron for all of the info. I have my switch coming. I'll have to figure how to remove the rear tails to see if they have an extra spot for rear fogs. If not I'll have to figure it out later. I might needs someone help with installing because i'm so not mechanically inclined. But the rewiring will have to wait until I come out there. I'm a learner by watching so i'll have some one help me wire them in.
Thanks again guys I appreciate it.
