hi so i just joined and thought u guys would be the ones to aks if its posible to convert a normal mkII to a biodiesel using the tdi engine or something...and could it still be fast?? i just havent had much luck just looking online

I don't know a lot about the conversion. I know of a website where a guy converted his MKIV to bio if I can find it i'll pass it on. I know you put the box in the trunk and they smoke a lot and smell really bad. I can't remember what he said about the speed though. Good luck, sorry I was not much help.

you would probably be best suited to use the mk4 tdi, it will be a difficult swap, but that motor would be pretty damn fast in a light mk2, problem is with everyone on a diesel vw craze a swap or motor could be difficult to come by, it would be sick to see a mk2 runnin around...

All ive gotta say is tdi with a massive turbo. OHHHHHH yeah

Are we talking MK2 that is already diesel?

My buddy has a mkII or III? tdi that is running on biodiesel. He did it himself with the instructions in the kit he ordered. It's something a mechanically inclined person can tackle with time. There is no power drop off when he switches to the biodiesel.

Just to clear up something here...
AFAIK Bio-diesel can by run in a standard TDI engine, no modifications necessary. Various mixes of Bio and conventional diesel are available at some filling stations. Bio-diesel can be made from used vegetable oil relatively easy. I have heard that there is a guy in Livingston that is doing it, and has pretty much all the restaurants in the area providing his used veg oil.
What requires extra equipment in the car is straight vegetable oil. Mainly because its not liquid at ambient temperatures. To run straight veg oil requires a separate heated tank, and some plumbing so the car is started and shut down on conventional diesel.
