Hey guys, sure I've talk to you on vortex but thought I'd sign up here to try to get some info. Not sure whether to post in the wanted section , but I figure this will get the right guys attention.

Looking for a windshield for my 75 and I'm coming up empty handed here in alberta. So I'm hoping a trip down to visit one of my fellow rocco guys in montana might bring me more luck. Got any leads guys? :D

Oh I'd even buy a rusted out car for the windshield and donate the rest to whoever helps me find it. :D

Thanks

Well I own a glass shop, so I can help you out with a new one, but I wouldn't know where to find a used one. I can check on what a new one would run for you if you want. And welcome!

Thanks you good sir. The only one I have found new through my local shop is in texas. $$$$$$$$

I have found some coming in through pilkington in january for the vortex group buy, but they are still fairly pricey. If you can find one in montana for a reasonable price I'd be in for sure. Obviously no install necessary.

thanks for the welcome.

So I am guessing it is a 75 scirocco? I will check on some prices and get back with you on it. And you just want a carry-out, so no install? That will make it even cheaper.......

I looked on my online database and neither Pilkington, nor PPG Autoglass have any in stock on the west coast. I can do a locate to see if (and where) one is available. Will you be needing a new rubber gasket as well?

Okay, I just got off the phone with my PPG Vintage glass rep, and he says there are none available until the end of january, and has no idea on pricing yet. Both Pilkington and PPG are out of stock. Anyway, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it is what it is. I don't buy any cheap overseas or mexican glass, so I don't know what the availability would be on those, or even how to check them. Anyway, hope that helps some.....

In case you were wondering, the part number you need is a
FW00331GBN or FW00331GTN and a WCR 331 Moulding. The GTN means that the window is a green tint/blue shade band, and the GTN means it is only a green tint/no shade band. I would say you would be lucky to find either right now.....

Thanks for the quick response. You pretty much verified what I was suspecting. So far it looks like I have to wait for the shipment to arrive at pilkington in mid january.

thanks again.

Looks like I might have 3-4 guys in my area that might want to get one. Maybe we can get you some dollars and save us some dollars. Still in the early planning stages yet though.

Yeah, you let me know what you need. I have no idea how many pilkington is going to produce, but I can probably get as many as needed. I may even be able to get a shipping container, so that if you wanted to send one guy with a truck, he could pick them all up and run them over the border like moonshine!
