I was wondering if anyone who has cold air intak in their cars have ever had any problems with them, if they see extra performance, and what else is needed with the kit as far as install. Do you guys recommend buying a new one or will a used one do? Thanks guys I'm just starting the process.

New, defintely. I would suggest a Neuspeed or an AEM for your car. If you want, I can get you some prices.

They're really simple bolt on solutions!
All you gotta do is pull the old intake out and bolt the new one in.

Just make sure to do your research and get one that will actually pull fresh air from outside the car and not hot air from inside the engine bay.

CHecks is right, although some engine bay intakes are not that bad. Most turbo'd cars use them, but then they are using intercoolers also.....

Or, you can go to like the ricer parts store in town, or ebay, and get a cold air intake for a 97 civic or so for $20, and a K&N filter... That ONLY works for VW's with the stock air box on the passenger side.

which motor is in the car?
fwiw cold air intakes are next to useless on a turbo engine and then you run the risk of water locking your engine. short ram intakes are the way to go with boosted engines.
