What are your thoughts on the MK5?

Just wondering what opinions are on the MK5 Jetta or GTI.
I must say that they have really grown on me. At first I hated the new shape, but the longer I look the more I see the VW in them. So far I have only driven the Jettas. One was TDI the other had the 2.5 5 cylinder.
The TDI is actually a blast to drive. The torque is incredible and the MK5 seems to be pretty tossable, although I didn't have an opportunity to really drive hard.
The 2.5 is nice and smooth and has a nice note to the exhaust.
Anyway, I am just trying to get some threads going so... :?

Honestly, If I were looking at the MKV I would choose the GLI - otherwise I would pick up an S4 or A4 over @ Dick Walter Audi. I think the new Jettas look too much like the Toyotas and not enough euro...In about 3 yrs when my car is paid off I will be up there test driving an Audi.

I have to agree, that looks wise, the MK5 has taken a lot to get used to and I would also choose a GLI.
The 2.0T is such a smooth motor. Its hard to believe it is a turbo really. I enjoyed it more than the 3.6 when i was taking Passats home.

I still do not like the rear of the Jetta, or the chrome thing on the front either.
I really like the new GTI, I think the front end works well on it, and I love the rear.
I have only driven an A3 with the new 2.0FSI, but I was really impressed by that engine, and I have not driven the 2.5.
I was glad to see the standard Golf as shown at Detroit, or was it Chicago, has the same front end as the Euro Golf, which looks much better than the Jetta in my opinion.
I am looking forward to the four door golf with TDI, and I hope we get the new generation of TDI engines sometime.

GTI = HATED IT AT FIRST AND NOW I WANT ONE!
JETTA = HATED IT AT FIRST AND STILL HATE IT!
The GTI has grown on me so much and after seeing alot of the parts they are making for them, I want one bad.
The GTI looks like a Camery or Avalon. Its too generic for my taste.
But those commercials, SO FUNNY!
If you havent seen them, check a few of them out on my myspace!

I felt the same way about both. Today I had the great idea  to buy a GLI grill and throw it in a white TDI, chip it and add some wheels and a drop...ooooo...I think it would look pretty hot.

I have to admit, the 2.0 FSI is one hell of an engine. My friend has a 3.2 VR6 A4 and that engine definitly kicks ass as Joe knows as well. Yet, the 2.0FSI seemed to be just as powerful with little or no turbo lag, very impressive!
I wish I had money, LOL
P.S Joe, the R32 can still romp that A4, LOL...been in both he he... :P

This is one that I would like to see. Look closely......Mk5 4-door GTI!
I saw this guy in Tahiti while on my honeymoon. I tried to rent a Lupo for a day, but I couldn't find anyone with one available!
This in one of the Mk5? Polos, pretty slick, I thought!
