Just bought a 1992 MKII Golf CL Euro spec. I am still kind of new to the Dub scene and definately new to the MKII. Which engine do I have?, 8V or 16V, 1.8 or 2.0? Also here is the confusing part. The badge on the back of the car says Golf CL, but today I found in the glove box, a Golf GL badge? If pictures will help to let me know I will post some up tomorrow

HEIDELBERG! beautiful town, me = jealous, used to live in Bamberg. your going to have a 1.3 or 1.8 litre engine 55 or 90 hp. Make your way down to bamberg and find DS Design, tell em wurzi sent you, they can put that car to GTI spec (chip, cam, short shift,) in about an hour it will make that car out-run your mk4 on the nordschliefe! trust me. they are great folks to know too and they will probably only charge you a few packs of American Canned Coca Cola   my first vw was a 91 golf CL i bought in grafenwohr and it wouldnt charge the battery and i knew jack about dubs. so i dropped it at DS design came back the next day and they did all that without even asking, just had the parts laying about thought they would do me a favor. and that is why im in v-dubs today. looking forward to some pics of both your dubs! and welcome to the site! make sure you get to some euro dub shows!!!!!!!!

Well Bamberg is a little bit of a drive, I will talk to a guy from the VWvortex forum that is now living in Schweinfurt about the DS design place to see if it is still there. And the Germans don't want Coca Cola anymore, They wan't Monster and Red Bull drinks now or the really wierd ones want Coors Light :screwy: . So when were you stationed in Bamberg? I am have been in the Heidelberg Mannheim area since July 2003, I think I am almost legally a citizen now  but I do miss Montana and didn't really know there was a VW Scene there.

Thanks for the Welcome to the Forum, I am not back in Montana much, but when I can I will have to find me an old VW to buy and come be part of GTG or a weekend drive

the VW scene here was a huge relief when i got home, i was stationed in Bamberg from 03 -06 it is a bit of a drive, DS is down behind the mercedes dealer. Those guys already live off red-bull, but they LOVE american soda  we use to BBQ every weekend at the shop and it was mandatory i bring soda. your right up close the hockenheim and nurburgring arent you! i didnt realize how close it was! plus the clubs in Bamberg are off the hook! they alone are reason enough to go.

when i was there i had a G60 edition one mk2 golf GTI but it was to new to ship home so i sent a beetle instead. when you leave or change duty stations state-side, have a dub that is 25 years old or older, and the army will ship it free. when i got to the states i decided i wanted to do a mk1 golf (rabbit) i thought i would never find one, but were swimmning in them in seems but it is difficult to find a nice mk2 :banghead: at least around here. must have pics of cars!

Oh yeah, Hockenheimring, is practically in my back yard. I can here when cars are running from my back patio. And when Formula 1 is there, Its almost a little to loud. Makes it great so I can make it to there every Thursday when they have open track night.
