it is super easy you just remove the front end and you can do it with out needing mirors it takes only 3 to 4 hours

easyer said then done lol it took me two days on it. but i did take somethigns out of the car for wight reduction wich is very nice an i notice the diffrance now.

It's much easier if you take off the bumper rebar and swing the core support and rad. out to the right side (passengers side) Then you have full access to the front.
I don't know about Passat but in all the Audi repair books, removing the bumper, belly pan and headlights and pulling the core forward is called "service position". There's even a special bolt kit to support the core in the extended service position.
