I just picked up this MK3 Golf to replace the mustang, it has the 2.0 8 valve completely bone stock with exception of the stereo. I'm not even sure where to start on it, i have no experience with the 2.0 8v. I'm thinkin a Techtonics cam, a decent exhaust (not a ricer one) maybe a Borla, CAI, some nice rims, and some springs, struts, and strut tower bars. What do you guys recommend?

I like to start with handling wheels/tires, and a cup kit. maybe some sway bars. then an exhaust, maybe a TT w/a borla then intake, cam and chip. There are a million ways to go about it. You could also build a parts list and watch for bargains (on craigslist and vortex) on parts you know you want. Anyway you go about you will enjoy every upgrade :)

Ya, thats what i was thinkin is the Techtonics stainless steel exhaust with the borla. Anyways, can these 2.0 8v's make good power n/a?

1.8 swap

Jokes of course.

Not trying to be a debbie downer, but you can't do much with the 2.0, but a chip/cam/exhaust would pep it up a bit - maybe add 20hp. Best thing to do would be to take that cash and go with a decent suspension setup and drop in a K&N filter and throw on a set of nice wheels. Good thing is that little ABA will run forever and require little or no maintenance if you treat it right.

Great car!

Thanks, maybe i should just go turbo or vr6. But for now i'll probably keep it stock with intake, exhaust, suspension, and rims..

Neuspeed makes a charger for the MKIII - now that would add about 50hp and be much less maintenance and tuning than a turbo. Just throwing it out there.

Or.. I think a 16v swap is more cost effective. lol.
