stutter

well on my passat it started today.. i had a small stutter like a miss fire or so i did catch it in time understand it by the time it got to operating temp.. then tonite i fired it up after meeting up with some friends an it stared doing it a again. an it smelled rich an kinda like when you spray spray paint. well it stopped for a momant so i got up an started to take it home so i can figure it out in the moring an so well on the way i was puttering like a bad miss fire or a cilander wasnt fireing constantly.... pulled out the code/ecu reader an it was telling me ONLY celiander one was miss fireing... what do you guys think im think coil pack.. :paranoid: ohh i did change plugs about 20,000 miles ago an they are NKGs in there. ummmmm but im going to pull the plug monday an see what the plug looks like an go from there i guys hope you guys have something on this :thumbsup:

20K on plugs? If they are copper that's a lot of miles. I would change them or check the gap.

Does that have a 6 pack brick or individual coils?

Iridiums right? Well they are good for like 30k so I think you are good there, so it's gotta be the coil pack like Trev said.

yes Iridium NGks ummm thats what i figure an there is non in town from what i have called so far i am going to check an see if VW here has anything on it.... an go from there it started up to day an ran fine while i had it running but it warmed up here so i figure i would count that in an go from there but it seemed to still have a slight hesitaion or so. so im getting the coil back an go form there...

Usually the coil pack cracks and the spark arcs which causes a misfire. To test it get spray bottle with water and with the car running somewhere dark, like at night, spray the pack with a mist and if its cracked you will see the arc. If that's the case you can replace the entire pack, or I have seen guys coat the cracked area or the whole pack with JB weld. Hope that makes sense...just my .02, good luck.

it doese make seince ill have to do that an see what happins thanks for the idea.... ill give it a whirl an go from there..

welll the coil pack on the right side was gone a crack not a whole was there an seemed to still work when it was warm but i replaces it... i do advise tho when doing so replace the plug whires also i had to do it becasue the wires i had were still the OEM... but all good now an runs stronger too. thanks guys.
