I autocrossed a Mk2 for a couple seasons.
It was a fun car, mostly stock. It had HOR springs, Boge turbogas shocks, and I maxed out the negative camber in the front.
I say go for it, just about any car is good for autocross when you start out. Once you get more experience (or maybe you already do) you want to tweek the suspension and get good tires.
Get a copy of
Volkswagen-Sport-Tuning, the guy that wrote it won his class at the solo nationals with a Mk2 Jetta once or twice.
And if you don't have it already download the Solo rulebook:

Have fun!

auto xing a mk2 is great fun, and can do pretty damn well with minimal setup.
BUT, they arent 68 911's
hell, even the beetle wasnt too bad.
but can and will perform very well! at the end of the day, you could be driving a bread van, and have fun,
p.s. nice to see ya around again Delo!

Thanks kokompressorgolf! Currently, my MK2 has a 1.8t(unfinished) but I am looking into putting my 16v back into it. The current mods that the car would have already for autocross would be ST coilovers, 02a tranny with stage 1 clutch kit, exhuast, and should have a roll cage as well...

too low to autocross. It will handle poorly.

Im sure its too low, its too low to drive around town here. I will raise it once I decide on different wheels and tires.
The inner fenders are also cut and smoothed as well...

Sure, but that is a full blown track car. I am sure it has other mods to correct the suspension geometry from dropping it. Just lowering a VW makes it handle poorly.
