454 needed

Hay so the vehicle that I drive for my church's youth programs has a dead engine. I did a compression test and best cylinder read 70lbs. I put a new set of plugs in it and didn't even drive it 20 miles and all eight plugs were fouled out. I will now start to pull the old engine in preparation for a donor. So if anyone knows were I could find a inexpensive late 80's 454 that would help a ton. Thanks everyone.

Youch! That's gonna be a hard one to find. Do you want a rebuildable core, or a full used longblock? You may want to check with Johnsons A-1 because they have a ton of motors - they may have something that you can swap right in.

Move to the classifieds BTW because it's a WTB.

I might have one for you. I think one of my employees has a 454 they have been trying to sell. I have no info on it at all, call me tomorrow at 406-829-3830, as for Aeron, and I will get you with him, he is gone for the rest of today.

I think I found a motor. Its a 350 with 60k miles on it. Complete from carb to pan. I know it's not a big block but for $150 I don't think I can pass it up.

Ya that is one good thing about GM. All the blocks have the same bolt pattern. Only bad thing is that the guy with the 350 backed out. What a douce bag.

Let me know. I am not going to dig into it until spring. So my options are open.

-like I said before, you might want to talk to the guy, I have no idea what he has, or what you need. If you want, give my shop a call at 829-3830 and ask for Aeron or John. I think if he has not sold it already, he wants it gone.
