the clutch pedal on my friends mk4 v6 gli feels dead. it snaps down into position and locks and doesnt release. if im right its the master cylinder, but im a subaru guy now so im not sure since the last dub i owned was a mk2 jetta gli.

it happened on my mark 4 gti/6 speed..... slave cylinder....

okay from the research i did i figured it was that or the master. So thats a big help, and man i love the dub sceen, but my oil pan aint shallow.

so from what ive read on the vortex and found from my research to hget to the slave cylinder and replace it doesnt seem to bad. what are some steps to follow or tips you fellas got?

You gotta pull the trans if it is the 6 speed. The 5 speed is easy. You should consider replacing the master at the same time.

There is no easy way with the 6speed? You have to pull the trani?

Ight, I'm just trying to save my buddy the process of pulling it or taking it some where to have it done

The throwout and slave are a unit so the trans and motor need to be split apart. From what I remember the book saying, the trans will not clear the subframe so you have to unbolt the subframe or remove the motor with the trans attached. I ended up pulling the motor. Someone with experience may have an easier time pulling it out but it was a pain in the ass for me.
