I have some friends who are looking into this car.

Anyone know any history on it? No biggie if not, but I also need a good suggestion on a shop to do a prepurchase inspection on it. TIA!

That's just down the frontage road from my work. Don't recall ever seeing the car before. As far as a shop, call Eric at V'Dubs and More, he's our go to guy.

I'm not 100% sure but talk to kevin. His friend had a car exactly like that, not sure if it is the same one or not.

V'dubs... just go to Kevin again.

I looked at the car. May be our member scottb4glx's old car. he sold it and got a mk2 diesel.
The previous owner of my b4 wagon got it from elk mountain also!
So heres a quick run down.
Automatic. leaks oil, prob needs wheel bearings and ball joints from the looks of the front tires. the paint is pretty good and interior is alright too. front bumper plastics is not installed correctly. I didn't see the engine bay. fogs are cracked.

you are mostly correct bro, cept his mk2 is just a 8v :)

yes that is my good friend Scotts old passat.. it was purchased by him from B&B muffler a few years ago. yes its an autotragic..

basically the run down is it was a basket case when he got it.. it very shortly blew 2 trannys out and spent many months at Helena Transmition, the first replacement was was a used trans, then the seccond was a new/reman w/warrenty (still current for a few more months) when i first scanned the car it pulled 19 codes at once.. many were auto trans codes but not all.. it has always ran real good. dosnt make any chain noise or nothin. it has a very solid coil pack vr. it did blow a MAF once. but i had a spare laying around and swapped it in for him (still running it too!) lol.

its not a bad car. but im sure it still needs more attention. just dont beat up auto trannys, they fight back! (or leave you stranded)

Thanks, Kevin. Not sure if they moved on the car or not, I haven't heard from them for a while. I will pass the info on, however.

It doesn't need wheel bearings, or ball joints. but still leaks oil :\

So, is it on consignment or something? If so, would you sell it outright? I am not sure if they are still kicking this one around, but it might help out some...
