Yup I picked up a Caddy yesterday. Details and pics will be coming later, maybe tonight if I have enough time.

Brief details: It's a local pick, pulled from a back yard here in town. It belonged to a former enthusiast who didn't have the resources to get it running. The goal is to get it running and driving, plus do the work to get the body looking good and not-so-rusty . Shock towers are in good shape, there's a couple of spots that will need some fab work, and it needs bodywork paint. Overall it's in pretty good shape.

Surprisingly, the motor turns over. Old gas in the tank and lines, maybe a bit of varnishing but it will an can be flushed out.

Hopefully you guys have a few parts sitting around, especially a grill, and front end parts. I'd like to maybe go with dual rounds in the front if possible. Maybe a dashboard, or a cover.

Pics to come... :)

Ok, update. So, the details are that this sat for 10+ years (last registered in 1998 in CO) in a backyard. It's got a 1.8 8v from a Scirocco in it. I spotted it and ended up talking to the owner, who wanted to fix it, but doesn't have the time, money or space to do so. I was glad when he called on Sunday and agreed to sell it, and we were on our way back from Missoula, so we headed in to Billings to get it.

I don't have any pictures of it in the yard, I'm hoping Wade maybe took one, but we ended up trying the air the tires, but they went flat and are rotted out. So we ran the tow strap through the frame and I drug it out with the Tahoe to a parking lot next to the house.

We swapped a set of steelies that Wade had and got it in the trailer and dropped it in my garage. The rest of the pics tell the story to today. So far, i was able to get the motor to turn over by hand. The fuel lines from the tank are no good, and need replaced. I flushed the lines and drained the old gas tonight, so once I get the new lines on I'll see if I can get it started.

It's a sweet ride. I don't think he will have to change the fender. It doesn't have the wrap around signals like my rabbit.

Before I go any further I have to give huge props to Wade, now an ACVW owner, who helped pull this out of the yard, who also generously used his employers truck and trailer in the 700+ mile, 48 hours of VW rescue and recovery marathon. And big  to our buddy Dave too, who was with us the entire way, even though he's not a VW owner yet...

Hmm, no fender swaps on this guy - like Wade said it's a non wrap around front end. And it takes a welder to do a fender or front clip swap that job on a caddy, and I don't have a setup yet to do that. When I post a pic of the front end you'll see what I mean. Aeron, maybe you have something that would work though

Jurg, nope...not red, don't blow your wad there buddy

Really? Then it might be a German built Caddy. My 80 Rabbit is a Westy build, so it got the sweet US spec squares and wraparound turns. And I hope it is the one that Jergens is talking about, that would make Mike more ninja than he is! And that, my friend, is hard to do.

Lol, yes pictures, I need to get them from my phone/G+ account and host them. Super stupid busy at work today...karate lessons for the kids after work, gotta do some work on the old house, etc. But yes, I will post them.

If you are on G+ I'll share them to a circle.
